IDH Farmfit Business Support provides technical assistance to companies and banks, helping them develop cost-efficient smallholder inclusive business models.
They were looking for help to design a web platform that will exhilarate and scale their initiative. IDH Farmfit already had a rough prototype that helped them to validate their idea. Now we had to make it work and address the core challenges.
Working with smallholders from developing countries is not efficient and not always profitable. Unreliable suppliers and side-selling are some of the challenges companies working with smallholders face. Lack of access to insightful data that can make the engagement more profitable for all sides is also lacking in the public domain.
I work on this project on a team with a product manager, two developers, and myself partnering with the core team from IDH Farmfit.
My responsibilities were to use the insights gathered on a strategy workshop at the start of the project and ideate and iterate on designing possible solutions together with both teams.
I used wireframes to ideate on the main user flows. Took active part in multiple brainstorm sessions to help the team problem solve on the go. I’ve used already established visual brand identity of the company to develop the high-fidelity designs. And prepped the final designs for hand-off to developers.
This is are case studies from companies successfully working with smallholder farmers that can serve as inspiration. To make them as relevant as possible to the visitors they have the option to filter them by the type of solution or crop.
This tool helps companies find out how much it is costing their peers to serve farmers, make an impact, and how they are recovering these costs.
